As the year unfolds, the design aficionados take note of emerging trends. Amidst the flurry of trend-chasers, Ambiente—a global trade fair—sets the tone for the year. Recently concluded, this fair bustled with around 148,000 visitors, underscoring key themes of sustainability and crafts while serving as a trend predictor for the year. Peter Wüst, Managing Director of the Home Improvement, Building and Garden Trade Association (BHB) reiterates, “In times of general uncertainty, consumers crave beauty and individual freedom, and buyers are actively looking for such trends.” Celebrating its tenth anniversary, the fair’s strategic placement at the year’s outset cements its status as a trailblazer in the design community. In keeping with this, DP curates 10 exquisite objets d’art—from lamps to vases— that served.
1. Leaky Lamps By Pablo Ejarque González

‘Leaky Lamp I and II’ by Pablo Ejarque-González pose poetic paradoxes in the ‘Talents’ section—fluid yet static, familiar yet ethereal. Conceptualised by Brooklyn-based Spanish designer Pablo Ejarque-González, it merges mechanical complexities with artistic flair.‘Leaky Lamp I’, is a result of the concoction of ash wood, brass, and bioplastic that mirrors an oil spill illustrated by cascading drips— both rebuking unsustainable practices and showcasing a sustainable alternative. Juxtaposing is the successor—‘Leaky Lamp II,’ a delicate glass sphere encased in bioplastic and textured with infinite bubbles, mystically capturing the light while perched on a solid oak base.

2. Soft Objects By Gaspard Fleury-Dugy

Gaspard Fleury-Dugy presents ‘Soft Objects’, a collection of crocheted vessels which evoke ‘a place full of lightness and joy’ through material exploration and craft techniques. He is celebrated as an emerging force in textile design for his ingenious approach to volume textiles, drawing inspiration from 3D mesh. These objects emerge from an experimental journey where knitting transforms into sculpture, reimagining amphoras and traditional basketry. Referencing the Memphis movement, these pieces feature vibrant hues while paying homage to craftsmanship.
3. Catching Bubbles By Studio Lotte Schoots

At Ambiente 2025, 28 trailblazers from the Netherlands to India steal the spotlight, weaving a gallant thread into design’s multifarious fabric. Amidst these game-changers, is Studio Lotte Schoots’ creation ‘Catching Bubbles’—a lustrous sculptural lamp that parlays as an embellishment for the austere walls. Capturing the ephemeral beauty of air bubbles, this refined glass object filters light with an ethereal glow, offering a moment of quietude in a world frenzied by rapid consumption. These tiny tchotchkes invite contemplation, reminding us that fleeting moments can hold timelessness as Amsterdam-born artist and designer Lotte Schoots transforms overlooked details into poetic interior pieces, elevating the ordinary into something peculiar with her sculptural lamp.

4. Sónia By Claraval

Claraval’s ‘Monastery Collection,’ metamorphoses sound into a sculptural vase—with its piece de resistance, ‘Sónia.’ Claraval, a brand synonymous with luxury ceramics, merging heritage with contemporary, operates under Perpétua, Pereira & Almeida (PP&A), a Portuguese ceramics manufacturer, renowned for its craftsmanship and innovation. This vase at the fair captures the melancholic vocals of Sónia Tavares materialising into a fluid, three-dimensional form using the ingenious Sound-Made Ceramics technology. Slip-cast in ceramic and cloaked in a textured Salt White glaze, Sónia serves as a visual echo, a tactile rhythm.

5. Dyno By Jaskarn Singh Hanspal

Indian designer Jaskarn Singh Hanspal studying crafts and design at Gut Rosenberg Academy in Aachen, Germany, presents ‘DYNO’—a modular plug-in furniture that reimagines the concept of a personal sanctuary. Drawing inspiration from organic forms such as calyxes and insect exoskeletons, Hanspal is profoundly captivated by the interplay between persons and their surroundings. The result is a cosy oiled oak sheath with velvet seating and a cocoon-shaped design that corrals the user, creating a private haven—the perfect reading or resting nook. Its adaptable plug-in design allows for various prototypes, enabling bespoke havens that evolve according to one’s needs.
6. Seasonal Garlands by Banaras Beads Ltd.

‘Seasonal Garlands’ by Banaras Beads Ltd. adds a cute dash of charm and personality with beads crafted from clay, brass, and semiprecious stones. Borrowing from nature, these enchanting creations capture the essence of each season, through colours, trinkets, and materials. While floral garlands—featuring fresh or artificial blooms—are ideal for weddings, evergreen garlands adorned with pinecones chase away winter blues, and autumn garlands with dried leaves and acorns evoke the warmth of the harvest. Spring garlands infused with pastel hues exude freshness, while summer garlands, bursting with vibrant flowers and citrus, are perfect for outdoor gatherings. 7. Arresø By Viktorija Kuliavaitė

At the ‘Talents’ section, a Lithuanian textile designer Viktorija Kuliavaitė, draws cues from nature and biomimicry, crafting tactile and practical designs. ‘Arresø’—a tufted rug inspired by Denmark’s largest lake Arresø Lake—beautifully captures its organic forms with elaborate detailing in subdued greens and calming blues. This exquisite five-piece puzzle rug artfully translates a serene landscape into a playful, interactive experience, allowing users to assemble its distinct pieces, in multiple configurations. Hand-tufted in Lithuania, this quaint rug seamlessly merges artistry and craftsmanship, while ensuring durability, transforming into a timeless heirloom. Crafted from the finest wool featuring eco-conscious materials and recycled fibres, this rug emulates her commitment to sustainability and mindful design.
