ORIKRIT is an installation design studio, rediscovering Origami folds through a collection of objets d’art. Founded by Deepti and Ayush, it is at the intersection of its passion for Folding and Textiles. Their design approach builds on their familiarity of spatial and material experience. Each art installation is designed keeping in mind the unique characteristics of interior spaces – like an artwork wrapping around a corner or a kinetic piece in a static environment.
Through a combination of folding techniques and Indian textiles, Orikrit has achieved a fine balance between tradition, craftsmanship and a contemporary aesthetic. The works are made in raw silks, bamboo mats, and a range of other textiles, all folded to the highest artisanal precision. Light interacts with each fold in a unique way, creating a multitude of shadows, giving the artwork a mesmerizing presence. The artworks are most notable for their minimalistic and meditative designs, where each of them is hand-made by a master craftsperson, with great attention to detail and quality. All art pieces are made on order, hence can be created for a variety of spatial aesthetics, complementing traditional, modern, minimal, bold or opulent sensibilities.
