There is a directness in Ajay Patil’s art that is not eluded by what people perceive of him. Through his art, he purges ideas out of his system in ways he would have never imagined.
His paintings come to him in pieces, fragments, and showers – which he then puts together on a canvas. Ajay’s art is an exploration of where he is and where he has come from.
“My paintings are not for the masses. They are for the likeminded. I need understanding, acceptance and praise. I am not looking for anything else– anything else is a waste of time. As an artist, you evolve, and to let ego and prudence overrule you for more than a few moments is a mistake. These emotions dissolve with time. Artistic credibility for me is not in what the market place thinks of me. I can’t imagine anything the system can put me through that can be more intense than what I’ve been through already. It does not pose a threat that is more diabolical than anything all of us are not already involved in.”
Through his work, Ajay bares himself unapologetically and says ‘This is Me’. By bringing things out into the open through art, he gives people permission to discuss that which goes unconfessed. Through art, he aims to nudge people. That is the joy he looks for.
