As a leading force in international consumer trade fairs, Ambiente 2025 continues to be at the forefront of design innovation in the global marketplace. This year the fair anticipates over 150,000 visitors from over 160 countries. With sections like Dining, Living, Giving and Working, the fair provides a dynamic platform for exploring the latest trends. This year, the event will centre around critical themes such as ‘Sustainability,’ ‘Lifestyle,’ ‘Future Retail,’ and ‘Digital Expansion of Trade,’ creating an inspiring environment for cross-industry collaboration. “Our aim is to empower professionals across the consumer goods industry by providing a platform that fosters innovation, collaboration, and business growth,” shares Julia Uherek, Vice President of Consumer Goods Fairs at Messe Frankfurt.
What To Expect At Ambiente 2025: Cutting-Edge Designs And Trends
Greeting visitors in the Foyer, the Ambiente Trends 25+ answers questions on how we want to live and work in today’s challenging times. By embracing self-contained answers, the three underlying themes for this year: ‘Deep,’ ‘Real’ and ‘Ease’ lean into a softer and grounded aesthetic of peace and contemplation. Using a palette of warm tones with bright pops of colour, the idea is to build on a visual experience that is positive and hopeful about a sustainable future. By bringing crafts into the mix and focusing on more sustainable and natural materials, the shift this year is to embrace a simple, real and easy aesthetic.

The fair has also made some shifts in its display and layouts alongside developing more engaging programming. Last year after experiencing a massive turnout of exhibitors, the team has tackled this challenge head-on this year by rethinking space designs. By introducing a new exhibit named ‘Interior Looks,’ the team has made accessing concepts and ideas simple and more engaging. ‘Interior Looks’ will be an exclusive area where selected brands will present themselves. Curated by Bernd Schellenberg, an interior designer and industry expert, the space is a move to capture the intersection of commercial and hospitality spaces.

Innovative Shifts In Ambiente’s Programming
With expanded educational opportunities through parallel programming, Ambiente 2025 offers specialized academies in key areas: the ‘Hospital Academy,’ ‘Future of Work Academy,’ and ‘Creative Academy.’ Each session is designed to foster knowledge sharing and spark insightful discussions. Adding an extra layer of excitement, themed days such as ‘Architects’ Day’ and ‘Hotelier Day’ celebrate professionals in these sectors, creating a dynamic space for meaningful connections and valuable insights.
A noteworthy addition to Ambiente 2025 is the curated pop-up store at Creative World, titled ‘Ms Paper and Friends’ and curated by Angelika Niestrath. This unique space is designed as a pop-up store where patrons can discover, be surprised, and be entertained by the endless possibilities of paper craft. By presenting products in this interactive way, the space offers visitors a refreshing approach to engage with textures, shapes, styles, and colours—often key factors in determining the best product innovations.

Yvonne Engelmann, Director of Ambiente Living, Giving, and Working, explains, “Ms. Paper & Friends particularly focuses on the stationery sector and at the same time encourages creative expansion and combination of this product range at the POS.” Creative World is an influential space that brings together leading manufacturers, as well as newcomers in the international hobby, craft, and artist supplies world. It is one of the largest events dedicated to showcasing upcoming trends in this sphere.
This year, Creative World will feature five Indian brands showcasing graphic arts, hobby art, and crafts. With a growing global shift toward creating softer spaces and embracing a lifestyle centred around rest, the role of hobbies and crafts has never been more significant.

Exploring The Intersection Of Creativity And Commerce
Last but not least, the ‘Talents’ section offers a platform for fresh perspectives from young designers and professionals worldwide. From ‘Leaky Lamps—created by Pablo Ejarque González using biomaterial, glass, and ash, to ‘Dyno’, a modular and playful furniture piece designed by Jaskarn Singh Hanspal—this section is a truly global and diverse showcase of innovative concepts and designs. This year, Ambiente 2025 is proud to feature 28 newcomers from Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, Great Britain, and India, among others.

Equally exciting, we cannot overlook one of the most highly anticipated displays of the fair: ‘The Longe – Shades of Space’, designed by Fabian Freytag, the Ambiente Designer of the Year 2025. With a focus on revolutionizing hospital design, the space integrates advanced AI technology alongside Freytag’s signature soft yet radical designs. The result is an immersive environment filled with striking contrasts and textured visual experiences for visitors. “The idea is to transport visitors into an alternative reality,” shares Freytag, founder of the Berlin-based architecture and design firm, Fabian Freytag Studio.
Freytag believes that fairs are crucial to the industry, offering unique insights into excellent design. “It’s important to make connections and engage directly with manufacturers,” he notes, emphasizing the tactile, experiential nature of design. “Design is like spoken word—it’s a feeling, a touch, a surface. It’s everything and a lot of communication.”
