A Concoction Of Art Deco And Industrial Chic

On the bustling streets of Manhattan, across from Louis Vuitton’s flagship in progress, a massive giraffe and flamingo flank a curtain wall adorned with the brand’s monogram, drawing curious glances to the emporium. Inside, a striking zigzag sculpture of stacked trunks by OMA’s Shohei Shigematsu, a New York-based partner of the firm, stretches from the lobby to the fifth-floor ceiling, paying homage to the city’s iconic skyscraper. The first floor showcases leather goods, while the second and third feature women’s and men’s collections, and the fourth is home to Le Café Louis Vuitton—an intimate 70-seat gastronomic experience.  The café’s design—a fusion of French Art Deco and Indigenous New York loft aesthetics—features exposed brick walls and muted tones. Towering floor-to-ceiling bookshelves adorn the walls, holding a curated collection of 600-650 tomes focused on New York’s visionary voices and Louis Vuitton’s legacy, curated by renowned editor Ian Luna.
