Infusing your home with caramel tones—whether the soft glow of bisque or the deep warmth of tobacco—offers a golden gateway to nostalgia, reminiscent of the opulence found in ’70s Mediterranean villas. Located in the bustling heart of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, the Caramel House at Elenza Green is a 3-bedroom apartment that effortlessly merges earthy minimalism with dramatic accents, breaking down visual monotony with a subtle flair. Tasked by the talented team at Verizon Architects—Akhil Gajjar, Ravi Pipalia and Yash Vachhani—isn’t just another example of modern minimalist design; it is a home that breathes warmth and fluidity into every corner. The well-conceived floor plan unfolds like a compelling narrative, with the spacious open-plan layout as its central character, transforming 1200 sq. ft. into a venerable mosaic of curated elegance.
The Pulezzi sofa ties the space together, complemented by a Oneglobe Exim rug and D’Decor curtains that frame the room in nobility. Riveting artwork by Sachi Prajapati serves as a focal point, while artefacts from the Ratios Store lend a chicness to the corner table. (Image Credits: Inclined Studio)
A Space That Breathes
The architects break down traditional barriers, creating a continuous flow between the living, dining, and kitchen areas. This seamless integration allows for greater movement and visual connectivity, enhancing the feeling of space while maintaining a distinct identity for each zone. Doors were removed, sightlines cleared, and natural light harnessed to carve out a sense of airiness—a design move that elevates the apartment from typical to transcendent. Moreover, each space feels meticulously sculpted to prioritise fluid movement and emotional comfort. “Our goal was to optimise the use of space and furniture,” Gajjar explains, “ensuring each area feels balanced without being cluttered or empty.”

A Simple Melody That Speaks Volumes
Our journey begins in the living room, where the recessed ceiling with its clean lines and geometric angles, introduces a striking contrast to the fluid shapes of the furniture. Lime-textured walls anchor the room, while carefully placed custom artwork becomes the focal point. Segueing into the dining area, an air of poised sophistication unfurls, highlighted by an Italian-style, terracotta-hued sideboard cabinet and lush indoor plants. The connection between the two spaces is further enhanced with dyed veneer wall panels, succinctly blending form and function.
The dining area features a Poesy dining table and chairs under the warm glow of an elegant hanging light by Oneglobe Exim. Wall lights by Bela Casa add a touch of subtle finesse, completing the setting. (Image Credits: Inclined Studio)
A well-proportioned four-seater dining table from Poesy defines the area, ensuring uninhibited movement around it. Anodised aluminium accents in furniture and light fixtures introduce an industrial edge that contrasts beautifully with the softer elements. The bedrooms follow suit, where spacious living within a limited footprint becomes evident
The master bedroom exudes a Zen beauty, featuring walls finished in Texto and greige drapes from Pure. Cushions from Ratios Store confer a layer of hygge, while the Maspar bed sheet enhances the calming ambience. A strategically placed hat stand fills the room with a stylish and pragmatic element. An Interplay Of Form And Details
Moving through the apartment, the narrative shifts from communal spaces to more private realms. The first master bedroom, a sanctuary of calm, is defined by its scrupulous design choices. “The CNC anodized patta on the feature wall is a statement piece,” Gajjar shares. “This thoughtful detail shines with the gracefully curved crown moulding, which cleverly hides the structural beam and adds a sculptural touch to the space.” The stepped ceiling, with a subtle C-channel embellishment, elevates the space without overpowering it.

The second master bedroom offers a more restrained, classical atmosphere. Here, a CNC pattern above the bed and the opposite wall emerges as the defining element. The transparent modular wardrobe injects robustness, not only serving as a functional storage solution but also introducing depth and visual interest.

In the children’s bedroom, the mood shifts towards a whimsical aesthetic. The designers have employed calmly undulating silhouettes, allowing the room to embody a sense of youthful exuberance. Arches on the walls and cove lighting orchestrate a stunning backdrop, making the interiors feel full of life. Wall-mounted lights and a petite side table ensure the room is not just a place to sleep but a world of joyfulness and imagination.

Designing the Caramel House presented an opportunity for creative ingenuity. Every detail, from bespoke art pieces to carefully chosen materials and subtle bursts of colour, elevates the living experience—offering not just a shelter but a ready canvas for personal growth, self-expression and the weaving of cherished memories.
