India’s largest luxury mall, Jio World Plaza, situated in the prestigious Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai, opened its doors to the public on November 1, 2023. Owned by the renowned business tycoon Mukesh Ambani, this sprawling 750,000-square-foot shopping haven offers an unparalleled retail experience, combining global luxury brands with exquisite design, and eco-friendly practices.
The plaza features 66 globally renowned brands, including Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Burberry, Valentino, Dior, Balenciaga, Rolex, Cartier, and more. Notably, Tiffany & Co, Versace, Bulgari, and Pottery Barn have chosen Jio World Plaza as the location for their debut in India, adding to the mall’s exclusivity. Eminent fashion designers like Manish Malhotra, Rahul Mishra, Falguni and Shane, and Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla contribute to the allure of the plaza, showcasing their creations. The grand opening featured a captivating fashion show titled ‘The New Order Of Style,’ introducing the latest trends and drawing attention from celebrities like Janhvi Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, and Sara Ali Khan.
The design of Jio World Plaza is inspired by the lotus flower, known for its long, winding structures. Constructed through a partnership between US based design firm TVSdesign and the Reliance team, the plaza redefines public spaces by blending modern structures with timeless Indian aesthetics. The expansive marble flooring complements the majestic marble-clad columns within Jio World Plaza. There is an abundance of natural light in the space— a result of the full-length glass doors and a captivating atrium–– to create a soft glow of warm yellow lighting in the atrium or heart of the lotus flower. Patrons experience a harmonious blend of organic and straight lines. The larger-than-life chandeliers are an exuberant touch.
JWP offers more than just shopping, it provides customised services like personal shoppers, VIP concierges, wedding concierges, and hands-free retail therapy options. The mall also includes diverse dining experiences, including EL&N, Armani Caffè, Cafè&Meal MUJI, and Ladurèe, making the plaza a unique destination. The shopping destination stands out not only for its magnificence but also for its commitment to sustainability. The mall has made efforts towards sustainability by being Platinum LEED compliant, surrounded by over 700 native trees, and designed to maximise natural daylight, saving up to 40% energy. The building implements water recycling, solar panels, and efficient waste management to minimise its environmental impact.
All in all, the enormous Jio World Plaza emerges as a symbol of luxury, innovation, and sustainability, setting new standards for shopping experiences in India.
