This and That is bringing to life the age-old tradition of handcrafted furniture. Founded by Ariane Thakore Ginwala, the design studio lends a beautiful narrative to its every piece, fusing fine décor, art and craftsmanship. This and That’s creations are a perfect union of vernacular and contemporary design. The workshop strikes a perfect balance between gifted craftspeople and innovative concepts. Catering to exclusive tastes for size, colour, and form, This and That offers customization services to fully reflect their customers’ unique tastes. Ariane’s skill and expertise lie in furniture design, restoration of old furniture, interior design, space planning, sustainable design, and using local traditional techniques. This and That’s collections are thoroughly diverse in style – from regal art deco furniture to playful forest-inspired pieces, as well as a striking terracotta furniture collection.
This and That’s home textile range Kāpus is a collaboration with textile designer Anahita Ginwala. The creation of these textiles is a community effort of farmers and artisans in the Indian state of Maharashtra, an age-old cotton belt of the Subcontinent. Kāpus uses organic cotton, khadi fabrics to create contemporary home textiles where handcrafting and minimalism meet in perfect harmony.
This and that has physical retail options in Ahmedabad (This and That, Options), Bangalore (The Purple Turtles, Lavelle Road), Hyderabad (Room Therapy), and Goa (The Project Cafe Goa).
