2014 has started with a big bang! Trends come and go. We are always here to keep you up to date with whats going on. Last year we saw fashion trends have a huge impact on home trends. Chevron, houndstooth and ikat prints were being used extensively at home and fashion for the whole of last year. After analysing the highlights from Maison & Objet & London Design Week in September, these three trends are going to be big for 2014 –

1.   Pastels – Tired of seeing neon everywhere. We definitely are. Pastels give a softer yet contemporary look. Use in soft furnishings around your house. Place Mats, Table Runners & Bed Spreads, can all be coordinated against white for a fresh young look.

2. Copper – Tom Dixon’s favourite material of choice. Gold and Silver are passe. Use copper for a more understated feel. Not gawdy but yet gives the rich oomph to a space. We love the way the copper pipes have been used as decor as well as for its functionality below. Polished or hammered copper like in the lights below look very chic and at the same time not traditional.

3. Cement Tiles – One of the oldest form of tiles, now with new colours and patterns, looks stunning. An entire space can be uplifted and designed around patterned cement tiles. Geometric or graphic patterns along with simple furniture can bring out any space. Prices starting at Rs 150 sq ft it is a great flooring to play with. Give themes to smaller areas within seconds from a bathroom, powder room to a anteroom.

If you have any of these trends already in your home, send us pictures of how you have used them!
